Tim and I were recently offered a summer sales job for a growing company run out of Utah. The company's CEO is an area General Authority for Salt Lake and a member of the 70 so it was obvious to us that the company was in good hands and we would be taken care of. The idea of moving somewhere we have never been before was nerve racking yet intriguing to the both of us. I was completely against quitting our jobs and leaving our comfortable and secure life behind for a job that promised nothing...but figured I would give it a chance.
We met with our recruiter Paul for a short briefing about the company and the plans for this summer. I went into the meeting with a hard heart and a negative attitude. The first thing I told Paul was that I was against the idea and was only attending the meeting for the free ice cream! We talked and voiced our concerns and opinions of the job and against all odds, Paul convinced me that being a part of the summer team would be a good thing for us. Long story short, our once negative idea was turned around and we had to begin our search for an answer on what would be best for our family....
After many prayers, fasting, frustration, and loads of stress, Tim and I received our answer. We realized we have been SO blessed with the things we have in our life. We felt that if we took the summer job that we would, in a sense, ungrateful for the things that we have been given so far in our lives as a married couple. We have declined the summer job and decided to stay here in good ol' Arizona. We have amazing jobs, free schooling, a wonderful house, an incredible ward, the most terrific friends, and sensational families!! How could we give all that up for what MIGHT happen in a summer sales job?
